Help us fund the 2nd Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia!
After a fabulously intimate first year in Melbourne, we’re now planning the 2nd Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia and this year we’re expanding to Sydney! Melbourne: 21 - 29 August, ACMI Cinemas, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square and Yarra Gallery Sydney: 2 - 7 September, Dendy Newtown and Conny Dietzschold Gallery We have our dates, venues, and some wonderful films locked in, but we need your support to make this entirely volunteer-run not-for-profit event viable and sustainable, and to assist us in creating something even bigger and better than last year. Says CaSFFA’s Artistic Director Cerise Howard, “It seems fitting in Australia’s bleak economic and social climate – with budget attacks on the poor, the old and the Arts – that we are calling on all lovers of culture, and in particular Central and Eastern European cinema, to come out in a spirit of Resistance to help make our festival possible.” The warm and inclusive theme for our first festival was ‘Togetherness’, but this year we want to pack even more of a punch with the theme of RESISTANCE. Join us in our quest for freedom; for the right to see fine films from Central and Eastern Europe, and of course the right to party – all with the unique accents and world-famous hospitality of the region! You can download our Thursday 22 May 2014 media release (Word doc) Or head straight to "CaSFFA 2014 - Join the Resistance!" on Pozible: http://pozi.be/casffa2014 The CaSFFA team thanks you heartily for your support! |
The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia will be returning in 2014!
While we at CaSFFA will be making a number of very exciting announcements soon, we can already disclose that CaSFFA is partnering once again this year with the Melbourne Cinémathèque. The fruits of the partnership this time around: a sensational retrospective of the cinema of Jan Švankmajer, spanning Wednesdays August 27, and September 3 and 10 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne.
Find out all about "Concrete Irrationality: The Cinema of Jan Švankmajer" on the Cinémathèque's website.
The CaSFFA website will be updated in coming months in tandem with the release of our many exciting announcements...
Meanwhile though, you can keep up to speed with developments on the 2nd CaSFFA on our Facebook page and on Twitter, while this, our 2013 festival website, remains live to remind you of all the good times we had last year.
We greatly look forward to seeing you at CaSFFA in 2014!
