CaSFFA on the Big Screen at Federation Square
Come, come rain or shine, to catch a fabulous miscellany of short shorts especially curated by the CaSFFA team for the Big Screen at Federation Square. From 2-5.30pm on Sunday, May 26, the Big Screen will loop a fabulous, family-friendly salmagundi of new Czech and Slovak student films from some of the most prestigious film schools in the region, along with an assortment of the greatest Slovak animations produced from the '60s through to the '80s, the odd trailer and no doubt a few surprises...

Havel Heart – Srdce Havel (dir. Viktor Portel, 2012, 3 minutes)
Film poem about Václav Havel's leaving and about his legacy melted with candles.
Viktor Portel is a Czech documentary film director and a student of the Documentary Film Department at FAMU, Prague. He is actively involved in various cultural projects and in several citizens’ initiative for democracy.
Another World – Jiný svět (dir. Matyáš Trnka, 2012, 2 minutes)
Born in1981 in Prague, Matyáš Trnka is a visual artist, enjoying combining old techniques (drawing, painting, etc.) and new possibilities given to us by modern technologies. He is mostly interested in animation and narrative stories; however, he is also making non-narrative videos and video installations
From AERTEK – 14-16 year old students
Experiment (dir. Miriam Plieštiková and Lida Kolouchová, 4 minutes)
Miriam Plieštiková, born in 1995, is currently a student at The Václav Hollar College and Secondary School of Fine Arts in Prague . She is interested in all kinds of films, but mainly video art and experimental films. The technique she uses to express herself in her videos is mostly spontaneous. Her favourite authors are Jonas Mekas, Marina Abramović, and Steina and Woody Vasulka.
Lida K. (Kolouchová) is currently a student at the Johannes Kepler Gymnasium in Prague and is interested in stop-motion animation and filmmaking. Today, she is already collecting ideas for her new film.
